Rebel Melon!

Ok, so, it all started with an innocent plate of watermelon. I'm a watermelon JUNKIE and it looked so cute and so good on the plate, I photographed it. I loved the colors and the juicyness of it on film. I took one of the pics and decided to turn it into a pony's symbol. Here's the original pic:



Her name is Rebel Melon. After putting her symbol on, and on again, and then again, and then retouching it five more times to get it the way I wanted, the colors I wanted, and the size I wanted it finally worked out. After sleeping on the idea of just, eh, watermelon, I though, OH! Watermelon! And added the white zinger background to it. On her non-display side I scrolled "yum!" with leftover green paint... and then decided to do the same to it. I fancied up the lettering as well.

She has black seeds on her forehead. Teehee. And for the first time ever, I 'pinked' the insides of a pony's ears.

Her eyes are done Traggie style, as are most of my customs (gee, wonder why?) and I tried something new with her hair. When I finished the body work, she reminded me of something from the 80's. I started lacing her hair in and when that was done, decided she needed some 80's bangs and a ponytail to complete that punkish look she was rockin'.

Hence, her name, Rebel Melon.

This petite pony castle cake was made... probably 3,4 years ago (has it really been that long?!)for a MLP cake contest.

new custom: BENICIO

For my love, Ben.

The awesome guy who got me into the Dune novels, the one who beats me and lets me whip him at Scrabble, the guy who owns my heart... now has his very own pony. Actually, his third pony.

Ben is the owner of BenEvolution, the stoner-jamacian pony (see posts from a few months ago) and Delysid Twin -male, the mohawked one.

Benicio, the Salusan-Tauran bull, was requested by Ben to be just a 'bull pony!". On second thoughts, I decided to put a Dune-esque design on his one side.

Benicio has been sculpted with apoxie sculpt, and is the truest color of red you can imagine. The Dune-esque design is done in yellows reds and oranges, and highlighted with gold. It has been super-glossed as well. The blob on the head/neck is my version of a morbid sun. :) On his other side (since, really, he can be displayed on either)are Ben's initials "BJS" done in black and laced with gold.

Benicio's eyes are wild. The initials side are a swirl of two greens, with gold, green, blue and white dots lining them. The Dune side eye is a swirl of yellow red and orange. :)

The hair on the hoofs is gently brushed with gold to give it more flare and make it show the details.

His horns were also superglossed.

Mmmk, those are the ones that have already been done. Now the next set is in progress. NONE have been decided thus far. I have a few in mind, but since I've got such a ridiculously overwhelming response (who knew?!) from my Metalhead sets, I'm leaving it up to everyone else to decide who makes it in the next set.

MLM3 had two common traits: All the mods had "III" on a hoof, and all had a metallic body paint job.

MLM4 will have a few common traits as well: all will have "4" on a hoof, and all will be ONE color- I'm still debating between making the entire set BLACK, or the entire set being WHITE, or yet another color as their base. Again, you decide.

In a week from today I'll narrow the list of nominees down and repost with those. I'm also adding messages to my forums and email lists and I'll combine all of the nominees from there into one giant metal pool. This will be fun :)

WOOHOO!

Another pony persona!

I didn't exactly intend for this one to become a persona for.. well, myself. But the more I worked on her, the more I thought "oooooh, yeah!" and warped my original idea into something that suits me a bit more. Plus I spent so much money making this one- between the 7 hanks of hair, the pony itself, black clay, the Swarvoski crystals.... Argh! She was WELL worth it, though. I LOVE HER!!!

I've named her simply "Traggie", because, as my persona... she SHOULD be named after me somehow. Since I have a regular sized pony persona named Dearest Tragedy, this one is all too fitting.

The Hair:

Traggie's hair is CHERRY PIE red. I bought one hank of this hair thinking " it can't be THAT red" and low and behold, my god, it is RED baby! Its labeled as "the color of cherry pie when its cut" and it indeed lives up to its name. It is STUNNING!!!! All in all, I ended up using SEVEN hanks of hair on this pony- six on the mane, and one for the tail. Her hair is EXTREMELY long- about a foot and a half long- and curled to perfection with no-heat curlers.

The Body:

STYLING PONY! Obscenely large pony compared to the regular sized ones. Photographic evidence provided below.

Traggie's body color is the same as my Metalhead pony (My Life My Way- the Biohazard mod) which is a gold-black, very shiny. Her body took three coats of paint to cover, streak free.

The saddle:

Hello, sexy carosuel pony! Her saddle is made with black apoxie sculpt, and was all hand layered, twisted, carved, and put into place. It has Swarovski crystals on it in varying sizes (which, sadly, don't reflect as nicely as I'd like them to- the superglue backing prevented it) and randomly placed.

Her "symbol", if you will, is a series of red kissie- lips (yes, the same pattern on Dearest Tragedy !) and skull-n-crossbones. The skulls have heart eyes <3 The skulls are random sizes and all were scattered onto the saddle.

The Eyes:

Her eyes are done totally Traggie style. Long, thick curved lashes, with silver dots pinpointed around them.

My Life, My Way – Biohazard

This has been an interesting journey. I decided to do all six at one time, and not photograph them until they were all done. Whew. Six ponies, lots of time, and a lot of broken skin from rehairing later, and here they are! Every one of them has a “III” on one hoof to signify that they’re from the third set. I kind of shot myself in the foot with this set. I wanted to make them all with some common theme (besides the obvious!) so they all have custom blended body colors- and theyre all highly metallic. Well, in doing this, I made it nearly impossible to get good closeup photos of them. However, it was worth it, as they are STUNNING and definitely stand out in a crowd. Afterall, what metalhead DOESN’T stand out in a crowd?

A break down of each pony in this set:

KVALLNING
The Finntroll Mod

This one was actually fun. I reverted back to natural tones and kept him pretty simple. His symbol is done in silver, which reflects nicely off of the metallic of his brown body. His mane and tail both have a piece of hair that was braided… and the braid has little carved skulls… made of bone. Literally. And they’re highly polished as well.  His goatee was rehaired and braided- the tip of the braid has been superglued so there is no need for rubber bands.





IMPERIUM
The Machine Head Mod

First time I’ve introduced a Pegasus into the Metalhead line up! (Perhaps the next set will have a unicorn!) Imperium was done with utmost basic colors- a nice heavy, metallic purple. The symbol is Machine Head’s logo (one of ‘em) and is done in metallic gray-blue, and metallic gold-black. I completely freehanded this symbol; normally I would sketch out a general idea of what I want… and this one I copied directly from their page, merely by eyeing it up. Not bad, huh?

If you’re a Machine Head fan, you’d notice the huge nosering. There IS a reason for that; the singer has a nosering, and to me, I always saw it as obnoxiously oversized. And HOT. So, this pony kinda mimics the singer; the nosering, the shortened black hair.





EDGECRUSHER
The Fear Factory Mod

Wow… what to say. Um, I started with a blue-gray metallic body, added silver-gray metallic symbol. The eyes are a lighter shade than the body and symbols, but a combination of both. His hair is SILVER, not white… and he’s pretty simple yet totally awesome. He sparkles more than the rest of the set, and stands out more.







iZOMBIE
The White Zombie Mod

With all the huff –n- puff of the iPhone, iPod, iMac… and Athy’s iPony (love it!) … why not take a name like “I, Zombie” and modernize it a tad? iZombie is the electric pony of the group. His body is a nice deep metallic jade… his hair is electric yellow, electric pink, dark neon blue… The symbol, in hindsight, I wish I did in a different color, as it doesn’t want to be photographed easily. Its off of Astro Creep 2000, and it’s a little beast guy inside of a circle. The top of the circle says “White” and the bottom says… you guessed it- “Zombie”. The symbol is done entirely in pink metallics… with a toothpick. Its rather detailed but was worth the pain.






PREY
The Cradle Of Filth Mod

*PURRRRR* One of my favorite songs by them. This is another ‘first’ for the Metalheads- a carousel pony. Prey’s body is a DARK metallic red- its actually the color of blood. His ‘coat of arms’, if you will, has one of CoF’s logos (inadvertently its also Vlad the Impalers coat of arms) with some silver detailing around it. The cape itself was hand sculpted and painted. Prey’s hair is striped black and white, which sets off the cape even more so!






MY LIFE, MY WAY
The Biohazard Mod

Pose alone, this pony looks like a freakin’ stubborn metalhead who would be screaming “my life!!!” at any chance he got. Well, now he can, as its part of his name. My Life’s body is done in a ultra-metallic gold-black, and the biohazard logo actually stands up from the rest of the body, on a circular base. The symbols were all painted in a taxi cab yellow. His hair is yellow, with a few streaks of black, more for effect than anything. His eyes are also yellow. His tail is rather thick, but it looks awesome when its all flayed out.
